Meet the Designers
We turned your ideas and tall toddler tales over to our favorite eco-designer, William McDonough, and our friends at IDEO and Rickshaw Bagworks so they could do their magic. Abracadabra!
Slideshow #1 – Designing the Bag: Day 1
On July 17, 2007, the Wee Generation team gathered in Palo Alto, California, at IDEO’s headquarters to “discover their inner bag” (i.e. start determining what this bag will look like and feel like, what it will be made of and what will happen to it when it goes to that big bag in the sky). IDEO has extensive consumer product and sustainability experience and their “Deep Dive” workshop process focused on human-centered design seemed a perfect way to approach the challenges of the project – so the team dived. Deeply. The workshop was a collaborative and immersive approach to tackling the challenge of designing an environmentally friendly baby bag. This slideshow (and Slideshow #2) invites you into that process. To add onto the team’s ideas go to the Design the Bag section of this site and share your baby bag stories and insights.
Slideshow #2 – Designing the Bag: Day 2
On July 18, 2007, the Wee Generation team kicked off Day 2 of their “Deep Dive” in Palo Alto, California, at IDEO’s headquarters. This slideshow demonstrates what a difference a day can make as the team builds rapid and rough prototypes of the baby bag. But “it ain’t over ‘til it’s over” and we need you to add onto the team’s ideas in the Design the Bag section of this site.
